 English Educations at Amity
It is our duty at Amity to nurture an enriching learning
environment so students may obtain a strong foundation
in the English language. Our focus is to provide the building
blocks of English expression so that our students are
assured of natural communication skills as their learning
blossoms. Amity's classes are designed with this ideology
in mind. |
| Japanese students
usually receive six to twelve years of formal English
language education in the public school system. The focus
of the public school curriculum is to prepare students
for university entrance examinations. The classes are
taught in Japanese and are almost entirely focused on
reading, writing and translation. As a consequence, opportunities
for speaking practice are extremely rare. |
There are
a great number of private English language schools in
Japan aiming to fill the need for conversation practice,
but most focus solely on listening and speaking without
providing a foundation in grammar, vocabulary and language
structure. Due to the fact that English learners in
Japan spend most of their time speaking Japanese, a
large amount of time is required to master English through
the direct methods employed by other language schools.
Amity recognizes that students in these schools merely
learn broken English and make little progress in their
ability. |

| At Amity, it is our ideal aspiration that children will naturally learn English based on the same fundamental approach that they would use to acquire their native language. Rather than force-feed students high-level target language in English, we proctor a learning environment based on stages suited to their developmental level. This ideology begins at the infancy stage and continues throughout all of Amity's course offerings. We consistently match students with our curriculum based on this principle. At Amity, we provide our students with a structured environment for conversation improvement, employing the Model Action Talk language
acquisition model. Amity helps students of conversational
English improve by providing a cohesive education that
focuses on both structure and conversation practice. |
