Application Requirements
Amity recruits from several English-speaking countries around the world because we realize that diversity is essential to the well-rounded education of our students. The greater the world-view represented by our instructors, the greater the understanding our students will have of new cultures. We are eager to meet with any qualified applicant. We want to open our students minds and inspire them to see the world using English as an essential tool. |
| Amity is not ideal for everyone. It is a great opportunity
for those who are willing to accept the challenges of
living and working in Japan, but living and working in
a different culture should not be taken lightly. Amity
requires a one-year commitment from dedicated, mature
individuals willing to adapt to the culture and work environment
of Japan. It is an extremely important commitment that
should not be broken. This commitment is an exciting,
often unpredictable but challenging opportunity so people
with the perseverance and fortitude to stay a year are
needed. Future employees need to prepare themselves mentally,
culturally and professionally for their new workplace
in Japan. Please remember that Amity is not sponsoring
a relaxing, paid vacation in Japan. Teaching English at
Amity is a serious job requiring dedication, cultural
flexibility, organization, respect, creativity, enthusiasm
and professionalism. The Amity experience can be challenging
in these respects, and yet it is extremely rewarding as
both a career opportunity and as a time for personal growth. |
| Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree combined with
a strong understanding and a masterful command of the
English language to apply to Amity. Furthermore a genuine
interest in the culture and people of Japan as well as
in teaching and business is required. Japanese language
ability and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
teaching experience are helpful, but not mandatory. Amity
has employed a variety of individuals, ranging from recent
graduates to trained professionals. Positions are filled
year-round on a monthly basis, and applications should
be made at least two to six months before the desired
departure month. |
