It is a wonderful feeling when you help people realize their dreams. As your students show progress in their English ability, largely due to your teaching and inspiration, you will share in their feeling of accomplishment. Our teachers play an essential role in the development and creation of students' lessons, and your feeling of satisfaction is well deserved.

Amity has earned a strong reputation for quality lessons, and the surest way to protect and enhance that reputation is through the efficient and effective training of our teachers. After all, a school can only be as good as its teachers. Amity's excellent training system and educational support staff of experienced and professional teachers successfully help new teachers to adapt and develop rapidly. Teachers receive a week of Initial Training upon their arrival in Japan at our AEON Education Development and Training Center in Okayama.

During Initial Training, teachers have the opportunity to teach demonstration lessons to actual Amity students with the support and feedback of their trainers and fellow trainees. For those individuals with limited teaching experience, Amity provides an excellent support team. The Amity training staff is comprised of experienced and professional teachers who are dedicated to staff development.

Once at their schools, our teachers receive additional on-the-job training. Observing the lessons of the outgoing teacher and apprentice-instructing classes continues the training process one step further. At the branch school, teachers will also attend informational meetings with the manager and receive an orientation to the school and its procedures. All of this is part of a new teacher's first few weeks on the job.
During this time, Amity also does its very best to help insure the teachers' transition to their life outside of Amity is as smooth as possible, providing support in all aspects of settling into a teacher's life. The staff at the school will assist teachers in registering with City Hall and opening a bank account, and will even provide instruction on how to use the appliances in the apartment. This high level of care does not end at the close of the formal training period. Once teachers begin their own teaching schedule there is always a web of support beginning at their branch school and continuing on through the faithful assistance of our educational training staff.
To enhance the skills they acquired during Initial Training and in the classroom, teachers attend Follow-Up Training a few months after they have been teaching at their branch schools. At this time, they are given an opportunity to share ideas and teaching techniques with other teachers. In addition, various Area Trainings with useful workshops are held throughout the year to help teachers further develop their teaching skills and share teaching ideas. Finally, teachers are encouraged to maintain contact with members of the training staff, who provide personalized attention through phone calls and school visits.
